Labour’s official approach to Brexit

The Labour party’s election manifesto has been released, today, and they say they “accept the referendum result” and “will put the national interest first”.

They also say they will empower UK regions and protect democracy devolving powers transferred from the EU straight to the relevant region or nation, and guaranteeing that Parliament has a “truly meaningful vote” on the final Brexit deal.

As we expected, there is no mention or discussion of the possibility of rejoining the EU later, but they do say all EU-derived laws that are of benefit – including workplace laws, consumer rights and environmental protections – will be fully protected without qualifications, limitations or sunset clauses.
